I’ve been a huge fan of Cirque du Soleil since the first time I saw it playing on PBS during one of their fundraising weeks; yesterday Anne and I drove three hours to Quebec City and saw a Cirque show. It was a free show they do under the interstate exchange.

We got chewed out by a couple of Quebec’rs for not “getting a line” by the citizen line police who stopped everyone that did not obey the line rules. One of the people we witnessed stopped by the citizen line police was a man with a child on his shoulders. Upon hearing the french confrontation, the child exclaimed in exasperated tones, “We speak English!” He then questioned the police why they cared. They said it was because it was offensive to everyone in line who had been there before and were waiting as they should. Later, the child told us that “everyone is insulted” he then shared with us that he knew a bevy of curse words.

Needless to say, as soon as the gates opened it was a mad rush to the stage and the lines were pretty worthless after all.

Oh yeah, the show was AMAZING. I felt like more of a little kid than all the little kids around me, yet still adult enough to realize that I’d take home any one of the performers… Could you even imagine what a night would be like with one of them??
